More Cape Town...

Climbing rocks on the beach.

A funny sign on the stall door in the restroom
on the beach in Cape Town (wow, I just used four straight prepositional phrases...that can't be grammatically correct!).

A view of the city from the cable car climbing Table Mountain.

Hanging out on top of Table Mountain. After a loss of power on the cable cars, we got stranded on top of the mountain for two hours. We were able to get free hot chocolate and a full refund for the hassle, though...we totally Cramered 'em!

Good times at the aquarium in Cape Town. Which of these
is not like the other?

I may not be the best speller, but when it comes to grammar, I think you need to brush up, bro. The only prepositional phrase is "out of order." Still, you're right that it isn't grammatically correct as is.

Prepositional phrases start with prepositions, such as (but not limited to): until, by, into, after, from, across, against, with, toward, on, among, around, along, of, to, beside, beyond, below, at, through, upon, in, for, beneath, between, behind, before, without, within, up, over, under, down, about, since, underneath, except, throughout.

There's a nice rhyme to help remember them.

Yes, I'm a nerd.

Don't know what you're smokin' bro. The following are prepositional phrases:

1) ON the stall door

2) IN the restroom

3) ON the beach

4) IN Cape Town

Hence, four straight prepositional phrases. I won the 5th grade prepositional phrase speed challenge with that nice little rhyme you've got there, and I haven't forgotten it.

Yes, I'm a nerd, too.

I couldn't resist.....so you're supposed to use the pool instead of the bathroom? Now that's sick :) We love reading your updates and we're glad things are going well! We're proud of your investment in the Kingdom and can't wait to hear more stories!

Kelsey (Brad and Brenna too)

PS. I think you've both proved your nerdness :)

Ah, I thought you were making fun of the poor South African's grammar on the sign, not your own in the previous sentence. I think your sentence is fine, though sometimes with a list of prepositional phrases, you split them up with commas. Not sure if that applies here or not. I don't see a rule about it in the 15th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style, though rule 5.174 says to avoid overuse of prepositions, limiting them to around one preposition for every 10-15 words.

Can you say, Super-Geek, Super-Geek?

So what's the rhyme? I was going over prepositions with Sarah just last week.

I got to say, I thought you were talking about the sign also and was going to bust you on your grammar. Just don't go after mine.

Love the updates! I count it a privilege to know and pray for you and those in South Africa. The girls still pray for you to make friends. I guess that's covered!

Hey bros,
I was just telling Nick that rhyme the other day. Isn't it great that we all passed 5th grade. Who can say it the fastest? Be practicing. We'll have to have the challenge at Christmas when we're all together again. Any bets on who will win? Yes, that's a challenge.

Boy, those were some funny comments...I was busting a gut laughing! I will have to have Em teach me the little rhyme Sarah so that I am ready to participate in the challenge. I am planning on getting some wild stallion to see if Adam can really tame it! :)

Bring it on, punks! Maybe after we do the competition in English, we can try it in Zulu...any bets on who would win that one? :-P
